Kalev (Kal) Savi began his career in 1982 as a Mainframe Systems Engineer with the IBM Corporation in New York. An exciting opportunity brought Kal to Australia in 1987, having been selected to Project Manage the introduction of automated cheque processing equipment & application software to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from IBM’s India support office in Sydney. Deregulation of the Australian Telecommunications industry in the early 1990’s was the driver that shifted Kal’s focus from Computers to Communications, having been recruited as AT&T’s first Account Manager in Australia. During his 10+ years with AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Avaya, Kal held senior positions in Product Management, Channel Management and was promoted to Global Account Director handling the News Corporation account. In recent years Kal has worked with several IT&T organizations in ‘market entry’ stage, i.e. introducing new IT applications/equipment and positioning these product offers against in many cases long time, entrenched competitors.
Kal’s passion is to engage with multiple levels/functions of a customer organization to understand its business, specifically how IT&T supports the organization and what investments in IT&T are necessary to grow revenue and profits. In this era, so many technologies, offered by a plethora of vendors, makes it difficult for end users to conclude, “what’s the right solution for the company?”
Kal believes his vendor sales experience is of strategic advantage to help end users navigate the solutions ‘mine field’, source at preferable terms & conditions and understand what it takes to successfully implement and support a major IT&T project that meets its original objectives.
Kal holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Systems Planning and Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, USA.
